REUNION SURVEY RESPONSES

This information was gathered from responses provided on the Ticket Order/Survey Forms that class members completed. It is not meant to be representative of the entire class, only of those who attended our Thirty Year Reunion on June 8, 2002 at the Port of Los Angeles/San Pedro Hilton.

30 YEAR REUNION ATTENDANCE

Approximately 285 people attended our Thirty Year Reunion for the San Pedro High School Class of 1972. 70% of the people were class members. Over half purchased a single ticket while 96 of us brought a spouse, a guest, or a significant other with us to help celebrate. Out of a graduating class of 1,053, just fewer than 200 class members came together on June 8 - slightly less than 20% of the entire class. The reunion committee reached out and attempted to "touch" the entire class, and succeeded in reaching about 70% - some 30% are still amongst the missing.

Won't you help us find them?  Please see our "Lost" page on this website for further information about whom we consider "lost".

WE ARE THE EPITOME OF DIVERSITY!

We are a diverse group, just as we were in high school. We are employed in about 37 professions or occupations ranging from long shore person to law enforcement, to service positions and all types of professions including medicine, dentistry, law, book selling, cosmetology, retail, sales, auto service, insurance and banking. We have actors, musicians, artists, surveyors, accountants, a restaurant owner, merchants, students, social workers, psychotherapists, a TV sports caster, engineers, teachers, a college professor, finance and administrative professionals, full time parents and truck drivers, as well as U.S. Postal Service employees. A few of us are retired.

RESIDENCE

Our class is spread from "sea to shining sea"...from Honolulu, Hawaii to Anchorage Alaska, to New Canaan, Connecticut. A whopping 71% of us who attended this reunion live in the "Golden State" of California. Most of us (155) reside somewhere between the "desert and the sea in Southern California". Of those who attended the festivities, 65 live in San Pedro; 13 live in Rancho Palos Verdes, and 11 live in Torrance. To complete the roster of cities in the South Bay area, Lomita, Carson, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills and Gardena were also represented, but no one attended who lives in Palos Verdes Estates or Rolling Hills Estates. Half of the group who attended the reunion lives within 10 miles of our alma mater. One class member from each of these eleven states attended: Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Mexico, and Oregon. Two or more class members from each of these five states attended: Idaho, Nevada, New York, Texas and Washington.

WE HAVE TRIED TO REPOPULATE THE WORLD, TO SOME EXTENT!

Of the 86 class members who reported this information, our kids range in age from 1-1/2 years to 33 years old at the time of the survey. The average age of our children is 20.66 years. There are 92 girls and 79 boys as well as 4 sets of twins. Six children was the high mark, but there are plenty of class members who have 4 children, and the average class member has 1.98 children. Some of us have grandchildren; the oldest grandchild is 15 years old; the youngest that we know of is just a little over one week old.

COME FROM SAN PEDRO, SEE THE USA AND WORLD!

And, we are a well-traveled group: over 60% of us have visited nine or more US states. Several class members have resided overseas. The class member who lives the farthest resides in Norway, about 5,330 miles from San Pedro. Thiry-four percent of us have traveled outside the US since graduation to such far-flung destinations as Aruba, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe, the South Pacific, the Caribbean, and South and Central America.
